We’re thrilled to share the incredible success of our recent volunteer efforts alongside our members and their guests benefitting Feed My Starving Children. Last month marked a monumental achievement as a record number of volunteers from our organization rallied together to pack meals for children in Haiti, in collaboration with other Atlanta-area businesses and organizations. Led by board member, Scott Hall, our collective dedication, and generosity raised almost $9,000 and packed a staggering 86,832 meals, which will provide sustenance for 237 children over an entire year.

This impactful initiative exemplifies our commitment to service and meaningful connection. For the seventh year, we’ve partnered with this noble cause, demonstrating that our organization is more than just about networking and fun events – it’s about leveraging our collective power to effect positive change. Together, we have raised more than $44,000 and volunteers more than 840 service hours for this deserving organization. Knowing that our efforts directly contribute to alleviating the suffering of children enduring crises and dire conditions in Haiti fills us with immense pride. This accomplishment serves as a reminder of what’s achievable when we unite our strengths and resources toward a common goal. Together, we’re not only forging connections within our industry, but we’re also making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion and community that defines us.

Thank you to our sponsors, this wouldn’t be possible without you!

    John Fay, CFP®, CLU®, CLTC® -
     Wealth Management Advisor, Northwestern Mutual

    Georgia BUILT Board Secretary

John Fay has been involved with Georgia BUILT since its inception. His commitment to community service and philanthropy, coupled with his professional expertise and strong industry relationships, significantly contributes to the organization’s impact.

After 14 years in construction and engineering management, John launched his own Financial Planning practice in 2011. He discovered Georgia BUILT at a time in his career when he was looking for a place to get involved and continue to grow a strong network for himself and his extended professional team. He sought an organization that would support his goals for continued growth in leadership while broadening his peer network within the industry.

John is a trusted advisor on the Georgia BUILT board and has served in multiple leadership roles over the years. He continues to be a champion for the organization’s community outreach efforts, personally spearheading the AFLAC All-Stars Party that benefited the AFLAC Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. He also launched Georgia BUILT’s involvement with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation fundraising in partnership with Northwestern Mutual and his team at work.

When not volunteering his time with Georgia BUILT or working you can find John traveling somewhere fantastic with the most important people in life - his wife and four children.

John’s advice on getting the most out of your Georgia BUILT membership:

“ENGAGE! Get involved, volunteer, attend events, bring others from your network, and ‘Go All In.’ As an individual, you get out what you put in. I am personally and professionally invested in the success of both the people and the organization of Georgia BUILT. This group has become my extended family. You can’t find that within every professional organization. This is truly different.”

THANK YOU JOHN FOR YOUR SERVICE!

On December 8th, the Empty Stocking Fund Community Service Project took place in Atlanta, GA. Georgia BUILT is proud to announce that in 2023, we raised $5,000 for ESF. Not only were we able to make a significant financial contribution, but we also had the privilege of spending the day in service by picking and packing toys, clothing, and school supplies for children in our community. Together, we donated more than 75 hours of community service.

The Empty Stocking Fund (ESF) brings joy to the lives of disadvantaged children by providing toys and gifts during the holiday season and other core essential supplies throughout the year to support positive social and emotional development and academic success. ESF is one of the oldest charities in the Atlanta area and is dedicated to supporting over 40,000 children in the several counties that make up our local Atlanta community.

Georgia BUILT is proud to have supported Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) for 8 years. The annual Georgia BUILT Golf Invitational, held each fall, always brings out a great group of clients and colleagues who understand the value of supporting such an important cause and organization.

In honor of Alexandra “Alex” Scott, daughter of Liz and Jay Scott, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) was created in 2005 after her battle with childhood cancer. Alex’s strength to fight and determination to aid in childhood cancer research were the driving forces behind the foundation’s inception. With hopes to raise money and awareness for a cure, Alex began to host lemonade stands in her front yard. This simple yet powerful idea has led to $200 million being raised for childhood cancer research, which has funded more than 1000 research projects and counting.

Events such as the Georgia BUILT Golf Invitational have directly impacted research by funding over 1,300 hours (and counting!) that were made possible by John Fay, Georgia BUILT, and Northwestern Mutual’s ongoing commitment.
